Just as importantly, InfoCapsule provides your family and those responsible for your affairs with quick and easy access to essential information should something unexpected happen to you.

InfoCapsule

Why InfoCapsule?

It’s staggering how much personal and financial information we accumulate in filing cabinets, on the PC, with the solicitor or even in our heads. Gone are the simpler days when we had a single folder or drawer set aside for all the important details from our lives.

What sorts of details? Financial matters obviously – banking, insurance, investments, for example. But there are also the more personal aspects of your life – contact details for old friends, important photographs, funeral instructions. Even subscriptions, club memberships, internet accounts (TradeMe, Facebook, etc) and where documents are stored...

You can record all this, plus more, on InfoCapsule, and have it all readily available in one place when you – or those looking after your affairs – need it most.

When to use InfoCapsule

InfoCapsule eases the strain of locating or recalling the many important details of life. Here are a few situations when InfoCapsule can help provide peace of mind:

  • If you become ill and need someone else to manage your affairs for a while
  • If you’d like to leave things in good order for those who will arrange your funeral or handle your estate
  • If you’d like to guard against loss of information through fire or theft
  • If you’re travelling and want to take important information with you (but don’t have room for a filing cabinet in your suitcase)
  • If you’re moving house – or country – and need to leave original papers or documents in storage until you’ve settled into your new home

How does it work?

InfoCapsule comes installed on a USB flash drive (also known as a pen drive or memory stick). Simply plug it into your computer, open the InfoCapsule program and use the templated pages to enter or update whatever information you think is appropriate. It’s that easy.

After you’ve recorded the information, it’s just a matter of removing the flash drive and storing it somewhere safe.

From then on, you can keep things up to date by following the same procedure – we recommend you check the content at least annually, maybe on your birthday.

Security

One of InfoCapsule’s significant features is its security.

The USB flash drive we provide you with is the key to InfoCapsule. This is where all your information is stored, and the only place from where it can be accessed. The information isn’t kept on your computer (unless you have backed it up – but see below), nor is it stored on any website.

There is a print facility, but it’s up to you whether you create a printed copy of the information.

To further ensure its security, your flash drive and its contents can’t be duplicated. Even if the information has been backed up to your computer, it can still only be retrieved by downloading it back to the flash drive. Because of this, it’s vitally important that you don’t damage or lose your copy of InfoCapsule – or forget your password!

As added protection, the your information is protected from prying eyes by InfoCapsule’s password-control system that lets you decide who can add to, change or look what you have recorded.

Warranty

InfoCapsule comes with a 24-month warranty covering any faults that occur with the product, other than those caused by mishandling or misuse, electrical damage (such as caused by power fluctuations), computer malfunction or unauthorised interference with the USB flash drive or the InfoCapsule software.

If, for any reason you are not satisfied with InfoCapsule, you can return it to us, in good condition, within 10 days of receipt and receive a full refund (excluding postage).

If you have any concerns, please contact us at help@infocapsule.co.nz.

InfoCapsule Limited has taken the following steps to respect your privacy:

  • It is important to realise that InfoCapsule Limited has no involvement whatsoever with the entering or updating of the information on your InfoCapsule, nor do we have access to this information. Even if, for some reason – such as the flash drive malfunctioning under warranty – you return your InfoCapsule to us, we will still not be able to access this information.
  • The only information you provide us with is that required as part of the ordering process.
  • This information will be kept secure and treated with the utmost respect. It will be used only for InfoCapsule-related purposes and will never be sold or passed on to any other party.
  • You have the right to access and correct this information subject to the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993.
  • We may use your contact information from time to time to enable you to receive newsletters or other information about InfoCapsule.

Other important information

There are a number of other important points to be aware of before you purchase InfoCapsule:

  • InfoCapsule will only function on Windows operating systems more recent than Windows 98. Currently, it does not operate on Macs.
  • To operate, InfoCapsule requires Microsoft’s .NET 2.0 software. These days this is part of most Microsoft operating systems, so it’s quite likely it is already installed on your computer. InfoCapsule will automatically check whether it’s there and, if not, guide you through a very simple installation process.
  • It is important to realise that your InfoCapsule is not a legal document and any information you record on it has no legal standing. If you have any concerns about this, please talk to your solicitor.
